What is a .PSM file?

PSM is a Solid Edge sheet-metal part file.

Did you know
  • PSM is the sheet-metal part format of Solid Edge, the mechanical CAD package now developed by Siemens.
  • Solid Edge was first released by Intergraph in 1996, passed to UGS and is now a Siemens product, competing with SolidWorks and Inventor.
  • Sheet-metal CAD models a part as a folded blank, so a .psm can be unfolded to the flat pattern a laser cutter or press brake needs.
What Analyser reads
Identify more 3D, CAD and scene files: Google Draco compressed meshes, Gaussian splats (KSplat), Universal 3D, Dassault 3DXML, DirectX .x models, Qubicle voxels, Wings3D, Graphisoft ArchiCAD BIM projects (PLN/PLA, from their "ROF FDB" header), Autodesk Revit (RVT/RFA and templates, build version from BasicFileInfo), Siemens Solid Edge, Navisworks, legacy CATIA V4, terrestrial-scanner point clouds (FARO/Trimble) and legacy binary Visio (.vsd).
Depth of analysis
.PSM is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
Open a .PSM file
Drag a .PSM file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
