What is a .PAT file?
PAT is a Photoshop pattern-preset file. Created and opened by Adobe Photoshop.

- A single PAT file can hold a whole library of tileable patterns for filling and texturing in Photoshop.
- A PAT library fills the Pattern Stamp tool, layer styles and pattern-fill layers, so one small file can re-skin an entire design.
- Several editors can read Photoshop .pat libraries, which helped the format become a common way to share seamless textures online (GIMP’s own .pat is a separate, incompatible format).

- .PAT is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
