What is a .GRD file?
GRD stores Photoshop gradient presets. Created and opened by Adobe Photoshop. The same extension is also used for Golden Software Surfer grids and Esri grid exports.

- GRD files let artists share gradient sets between Photoshop installations.
- A GRD file opens with the signature “8BGR” and stores its gradients as big-endian binary data for Adobe Photoshop.
- Each gradient stop can record colour in several models, including RGB, HSV, CMYK, Lab and grayscale.

- .GRD is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
