What is a .LRtemplate file?

LRtemplate is an older Adobe Lightroom develop preset. Created and opened by Adobe Lightroom.

Did you know
  • The legacy preset stores its develop settings as plain Lua-style text, which is why old presets can be read in a text editor.
  • The .lrtemplate extension covered more than develop presets - Lightroom used the same Lua-based container for export, slideshow and metadata templates.
  • Lightroom Classic CC 7.3 in 2018 automatically converted existing .lrtemplate presets to the newer .xmp format on launch, after which the old files were no longer written.
What Analyser reads
Identify Adobe project files and read their metadata: InDesign (INDD), XD, Animate (FLA), and Lightroom. After Effects projects (AEP, AET), Premiere Pro and Elements (PRPROJ, PREL), Photoshop (PSD, PSB) and Illustrator (AI) now open in full viewers - see After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Depth of analysis
.LRtemplate is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
Open a .LRtemplate file
Drag a .LRtemplate file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
