What is a .MPP file?
MPP is a Musepack audio file, an older extension for the same lossy music codec as .mpc and .mp+.

- Musepack used .mpc, .mp+ and .mpp interchangeably over its life, all naming the very same codec.
- The .mpp extension dates from Musepack's MPEGplus era, before the project settled on the .mpc name.
- Sharing the extension with Microsoft Project files is pure coincidence - the audio codec and the project planner are unrelated.

- .MPP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
