What is a .DSF file?
DSF holds DSD audio, the high-resolution format behind Super Audio CD. Created by Sony.

- DSF was defined by Sony and, unlike the rival DFF, embeds ID3 tags so it can store track titles and album artwork.
- It carries the 1-bit, 2.8 MHz Direct Stream Digital signal that underpins the Super Audio CD.
- DSF stores each channel as its own block of samples where the rival DFF interleaves them, one reason DSF became the more common DSD download format.

- .DSF is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
