What is a .PPSM file?
PPSM is a macro-enabled PowerPoint slideshow - a PPSX that may also contain VBA macros.
- Did you know
- A PPSM opens straight into the slideshow like a .ppsx, but is allowed to carry VBA macros, which the m suffix marks.
- It is the same zipped XML package as PPTX, simply set to launch in presentation mode rather than the editor.
- Macro-enabled show files suited automated or kiosk presentations, though Office now restricts macros from untrusted sources.
- Under the hood a .PPSM file is really a ZIP archive - rename it to .zip and you can browse the files inside.
- What Analyser shows you
- Open and read Microsoft Office documents - modern Word, Excel and PowerPoint (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX), their template, macro-enabled and slideshow variants (DOTX, XLTX, POTX, DOCM, XLSM, PPTM, PPSX), the binary Excel workbook (XLSB), and the legacy 97-2003 binaries (DOC, XLS, PPT) - plus the OpenDocument family in every shape: zipped and flat single-XML text, spreadsheets, presentations and graphics (ODT, ODS, ODP, ODG, FODT, FODS), templates (OTT, OTS, OTP, OTG), legacy StarOffice (SXW, SXC, SXD), and EPUB e-books, shown as page previews with selectable text, tables, sheets and slides. Excel workbooks (XLSX and its macro/template variants, plus the binary XLSB) and OpenDocument spreadsheets (ODS) additionally open in a full analysis workbench alongside the sheet preview - a virtualised grid with sort, filter, search and column tools, a group-by summary, and a chart builder - to explore the data itself, not just preview it.
