What is a .MPO file?

MPO (Multi Picture Object) packs two or more JPEG images into a single file, most often the left and right frames of a stereoscopic 3D photo.

Did you know
  • MPO was standardised in 2009 and used by 3D cameras such as the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D and the Nintendo 3DS.
  • An MPO is valid as a plain JPEG too - open it in an ordinary viewer and you simply see the first of its embedded images.
  • Beyond 3D, the Multi-Picture format was also used for panoramas and for storing several exposures of one scene in a single file.
What Analyser shows you
View EXIF, GPS, camera settings, histograms, dominant colours, OCR text, and AI-generation markers in JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, AVIF and JPEG XL images. Detects computational-photo wrappers (Apple Live Photo, Google and Samsung Motion Photo, Ultra HDR gain maps), opens THM movie-thumbnail files, and extracts every embedded image from multi-image files - all sizes in an ICO, both halves of an MPO stereo pair, and every page of a multi-page TIFF.
Open a .MPO file
Drag a .MPO file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It opens entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
