What is a .X3DV file?
X3DV is X3D scene data in the Classic VRML text encoding - the successor to VRML for describing interactive 3D worlds.

- X3D is the ISO standard that took over from VRML, and the .x3dv encoding keeps VRML’s readable curly-brace syntax.
- VRML, the Virtual Reality Modeling Language, was the 1990s attempt at 3D worlds on the web, and X3D modernised it with an XML encoding alongside this classic text form.

- .X3DV is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
