What is a .WPT file?

WPT is a template from Microsoft Works.

Did you know
  • WPT provided ready-made layouts in the Microsoft Works word processor.
  • A WPT template holds pre-built text, layout and graphics that Microsoft Works used to spin out fresh .wps documents like résumés and newsletters.
  • Microsoft Works was a cut-down, cheaper alternative to Office bundled on many home PCs, and its formats including .wpt were never fully compatible with Word.
What Analyser reads
Identify and read more document, e-book and publishing files: Scribus (.sla/.scd version, pages, fonts), MS Works and Windows Write, Word 97 templates (.dot), StarOffice 5.x binary docs, Shanda Bambook and Sony BBeB (.lrf/.lrx) e-books, FrameMaker, document templates and legacy PageMaker.
Depth of analysis
.WPT is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
Open a .WPT file
Drag a .WPT file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
