What is a .SVAP file?
SVAP is an appearance (material) for SOLIDWORKS Visualize, the ray-traced rendering tool - a ZIP package holding the material definition and its textures. Created and opened by SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

- Visualize began life as Bunkspeed, a standalone product Dassault Systèmes acquired and folded into the SOLIDWORKS family.
- An appearance bundles a material's look - its colour, reflectivity, texture and bump - so it can be dropped onto any model in a Visualize scene.
- Being a ZIP package, a .svap keeps the material definition and its texture images together, so an appearance can be shared as one file.

- Identify CAD files and read header metadata: AutoCAD DWG/DWT and DXF now open as a 2D drawing preview (see Diagrams), SolidWorks .sldreg Settings Wizard backups (release year, settings groups and the saved registry keys) and SOLIDWORKS Visualize .svap appearances and .svpj projects, opened as the ZIP packages they are, Inventor (IPT, IAM), Rhino (3DM) and Grasshopper (GH, GHX), SketchUp (SKP), 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, ZBrush, Maya, CATIA, Eagle, and KiCad. - Depth of analysis
- .SVAP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.

- Drag a .SVAP file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
