What is a .MDP file?
.MDP is a file in the Design category. Analyser identifies it and reads the metadata in its header, right in your browser.

- MDP is the native layered-canvas format of MediBang Paint and its sibling FireAlpaca, free painting apps popular with manga and comic artists.
- The file keeps each drawing layer separate along with the canvas size and blend settings, so a work in progress reopens exactly as it was left.
- MediBang Paint comes from the Japanese company MediBang Inc and shares its engine and .mdp format with the earlier FireAlpaca, running free on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
- What Analyser reads
- Identify design-app files: Figma (FIG), Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher, CorelDRAW (CDR), MediBang Paint (MDP) and Substance. A Figma file has its container read out - format, Kiwi version and chunk sizes - but not its contents: Figma encodes the design with Kiwi, a schema-driven binary format whose schema ships inside the file and changes with the version of Figma that wrote it, so there is no stable structure to walk. - .MDP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
