What is a .CDP file?
The .cdp extension is used by two different engineering and decision-analysis tools.
CDP4 (COMET) model
- What it is
- A CDP4 / COMET concurrent-design model from the ESA systems-engineering toolset. Analyser identifies it from its bytes.
- How to tell it apart
- Analyser inspects the header to tell the two apart.
- Did you know
- CDP4 / COMET is the European Space Agency's concurrent-design platform, used to design spacecraft with dozens of engineers editing one model at once.
- CDP4 implements the ECSS-E-TM-10-25 engineering data model, the European space industry's standard for exchanging systems-engineering data.
- It descends from ESA's Concurrent Design Facility approach, where a whole team grades a mission concept together in a single room in a matter of days.
Criterium DecisionPlus model
- What it is
- A Criterium DecisionPlus decision-analysis model (AHP / SMART). Analyser identifies it from its bytes.
- How to tell it apart
- Analyser inspects the header to tell the two apart.
- Did you know
- Criterium DecisionPlus ranks choices with the Analytic Hierarchy Process, a 1970s method for turning gut-feel comparisons into hard numbers.
- The Analytic Hierarchy Process it uses was invented by Thomas Saaty in the early 1970s, and Saaty himself is credited with developing the software.
- Criterium DecisionPlus, made by InfoHarvest, combines that AHP method with SMART, a simpler weighted-scoring technique, in the same model.
- Did you know
- In Analyser's format library, .CDP sits in the 3D / CAD / engineering category.
- Depth of analysis
- .CDP is an identification-grade format: Analyser recognises it from its bytes and decodes the header metadata it carries, rather than opening it in a full viewer. Formats that do get a full viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
- Open a .CDP file
- Drag a .CDP file onto the Analyser home page (or tap to pick one). It is identified entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it works offline once installed.
