What is a .SLDASM file?
SLDASM is a SolidWorks assembly: a set of parts positioned and mated together rather than a single body. Analyser reads the preview and metadata from older OLE2 files and identifies the newer encrypted ones. Export to STEP for the 3D viewer.

- What Analyser shows you
- Open a SolidWorks part (.sldprt), assembly (.sldasm) or drawing (.slddrw). Older (pre-2015) files are OLE2 documents: Analyser reads the saved preview thumbnail and the document metadata (title, author, who last saved it and when). Files saved by SolidWorks 2015 or later are encrypted by Dassault Systemes, so they are identified but their contents cannot be read outside SolidWorks - in either case the editable Parasolid geometry stays proprietary, so export to STEP, STL or 3MF for the full 3D viewer.

- .SLDASM is a partial-analysis format: Analyser opens it and shows the embedded preview or thumbnail and the metadata it can read, but the real editable content stays in the application's proprietary format and is not reconstructed in the browser. Formats with a complete viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
