What is a .FD file?
FD is a UEFI or BIOS flash-volume image, used by coreboot and EDK2.

- An FD image is the raw contents of a board’s firmware chip, the form coreboot and EDK2 produce and flash.
- EDK2 is Intel's open-source reference implementation of UEFI, the firmware standard that replaced the legacy PC BIOS.
- An FD flash volume is structured as nested firmware volumes holding the individual modules that run before the operating system loads.
