What is a .F3D file?
F3D is the native design file Autodesk Fusion 360 saves a part or assembly as - a compressed package holding the parametric model, its appearances and a rendered thumbnail. Analyser reads the document type, body count and Fusion version and shows the embedded preview; the editable solid is stored as proprietary ShapeManager geometry, so export to STL, OBJ or STEP for a full 3D view.

- A .f3d is really a ZIP whose members are Zstandard-compressed, which is why ordinary archive tools cannot open it.

- Open an Autodesk Fusion 360 design (.f3d) or archive (.f3z) and read what it holds: the document type (part, assembly, drawing or sheet metal), the Fusion document version, the number of solid bodies and embedded appearance assets, and the thumbnail Fusion rendered into the file - shown as the model. The editable geometry is stored as Autodesk ShapeManager BREP, a proprietary format that cannot be rebuilt in the browser, so export to STL, OBJ, STEP or 3MF for the full 3D viewer.

- .F3D is a partial-analysis format: Analyser opens it and shows the embedded preview or thumbnail and the metadata it can read, but the real editable content stays in the application's proprietary format and is not reconstructed in the browser. Formats with a complete viewer are marked "Full" on the formats page.
