What is a .DjV file?
DjV is the short-extension form of a DjVu scanned-document file - the same format as .djvu, just named with the older three-letter extension.

- The .djv and .djvu extensions are interchangeable; .djv exists for systems that historically capped extensions at three characters.
- DjVu was developed at AT&T Labs in the late 1990s to put scanned books and documents online at a fraction of the size of PDF or TIFF.
- It works by splitting a page into a sharp text-and-line layer and a smooth background, compressing each in the way that suits it best.
